Hectic is putting it mildly.......

Have had 2 weeks of running around and not even time to idle a bit. It all started on Wednesday last week where we went to the recording of Sweepslag TV show. David was in Middelburg doing revue stuff, and of course we have no baby sitter for Danté, so obviously he had to be tagged along on a school night! We were too late for grabbing a bite at a decent restaurant, but could grab something at the studio. Not much though, as  sandwich and coke is not really dinner.

A very organised way of recording the show followed, what I did not anticipate was that Pieter Koen would grab me (sitting in the front row) to dance and spin me on the stage! I can not dance, and the floor was SOOOOO slippery!  Well, I survived it ;-) I do hope they delete that scene!!!! We got home very late.... and I missed out on my beauty sleep!

The following night we did something, but for the love of me I can not remember what!!!! Will have to update this as soon as I remember!

The Friday was the "Pampoene oppi dak" launch. I wangled my way out of that night, as `i was too tired. Gideon went and took lots of photo's - he had to stand in for Adam Tas, as Adam could not make it - so he did a one man band thing there and then. He came home very late.

The Saturday we had to go there again as it is a 3 day festival and Gideon did the photo's. We had to leave early ( at 4 noon ;-) )  had to drive to Middelburg to see David singing in his old school's revue. They asked him to do a song for the revue. He sang well and I was very proud of him.

We slept over and the Sunday we had to rush back again as Gideon, David and Theo started the festival on the Sunday at 12h00. They did a nice set with Gideon singing, David on percussions, and harmonies, and with Theo on guitar.

It was supposed to end about at 18h00, but it did not. We left there at 20h10 and went in search of a diner where we could sit and eat. We got home at about 22hoo and went to bed straight away! Too tired even for coffee!!!!

By now my washing and ironing was no heap anymore, but a mountain! I did not get any chance to buy decent food or groceries at all. I felt like a bad mommy and house keeper!

Monday was getting ready for the Vonk awards ceremony. Had to do my hair, had to find decent attire and do my face and nails - well, did not do my face or nails, but did get a nice piece to through over for the awards night.  The problem was I bought high heels to go with my attire, but that was NOT such a good idea! The pain and agony was unbearable! The shoes was not right for the slippery floor and I had a hard time walking!!!!

I was so p*ssed off as Gideon's agent did not tell us we had to book a table for the after party. ~Had to stand outside like beggars waiting to get a table ~ maybe get a table......
Well we got seats, at last after standing outside for 40 minutes!!!!!

Once inside, it was sort of okey at first, but I had sore feet and was still angry about the incompetence of people. To top it all, we did not have any dinner again - but I could drink a coke or any other beverage I wanted. I opted for the Coke Light.

I decided to enjoy myself and took photo's of people walking past me - I even went to people and asked them if I could potograph them.  We came home late again........

Tuesday I had art classes and we had a Sweepslag recording again the night. Phew! On this night it was Steve Hofmeyr and Dana Winner on the stage.  Luckily we could get home before midnight! I am pooped. I am frustrated as I want to paint - but my house is a mess and the ironing and washing still needs to be done!!!

I will paint this week - come what may! I need to paint or draw or take photo's or something!!!!!

Hope your week is manageble! Hope you have a stunning week!!!!!
Enjoy!

What a week....what a week!

This week was awful, but also had good things trying to get out here and there. This was a slow week but with fast happenings. I am not going to try and explain this one, it was just like that.

It is getting warmer and we "nearly" had some rain.....jip, all the right noises coming from the sky, all the right visual effects coming from the sky, and then it started....... one drop, then another, and then 3 more.......and it STOPPED! Nothing more, nothing less.....???? Oh well, at least it did its best in trying to give the earth some refreshments.....
Go figure. Never get too excited before the time.

They have a saying here in South Africa - and remember I did not say it - ( I heard it for the first time in this week!) that it must not rain before the 10th of October. If it does rain before that time, it will NOT be a wet year. If it rains after the 10th of October, we will have a prosperous year. Now..... just to let you know..... we will have a prosperous year.

David is rejoining us as a family as his job did not pan out. The educational department of South Africa did not see it fit to help establish a foreign entity such as the university that he worked for and did everything in their power to make it impossible for them to get a good start. I do not think they will ever start properly and might just go home to Dubai again. Sad, very sad.

But, that is good news for us, as he will be nearby and we will have some fun together. Do not exactly know what he wants to do now, but will let you know as soon as I know! For now I think he wants to take some time off and properly go and greet all his friends.

Danté brought home a good report card. His average for this term is 78%, got 90% for math, but did not do a good job in technology and Social Orientation! For technology he forgot about a project that he had to hand in, and that actually brought his marks down with a heavy hand. Silly. I do not think that will happen again soon :D

My art classes are very intensive. I have a 2 hour slot and this Tuesday I did "Blocking" in a very very different way than I am used to. I used up the 2 hours just doing that!!!!! I think when I am fininshed with this art course, I will be a PRO!

I have to fininsh a nude painting on commision by the end of November, but I will be fininshed with it on time. I am doing this one for Yolanda Barnard, a local journalist of the SUN a local Sunday paper.
I am very excited about this one. I will post it up as soon as I am fininshed with it.

Have a stunning weekend, and an even more stunning week. Hope my week will be awesome to.

Recap of happenings and stuff......

Forgive me, Bloggers..... for I have been lazy......... it has been a long time since my last blogging.
Feels like I am in the confession booth! No, seriously, I have neglected to update due to various reasons and also to laziness :D

We are now exactly 6 months back in our beloved country. Lots have happened on the news front, on the music side for Gideon and work wise for David. For Danté life is just a breeze as he takes it as is and go with the flow.

I have started to attend art classes and will have to throw away all that I thought I knew about art, as I am re-learning the basics in a VERY different way. I thought I would step in and just start painting as I have been around a bit, but NO, it does not work that way! I have to do the drawing part first before I can do any other courses! So I agreed. I nearly fainted when I had to do my first exercise. Drawing lines! Straight lines, then lines that crossed, then lines that curved, and then curled. No rulers allowed. Measure with your pencil and look toward the dot where your line must end to draw straight lines. I had such a headache after 2 hours..... I needed my coffee and I needed it strong! But I actually enjoyed learning to control my trusted pencil better. The next lesson was about drawing perfect circles and ovals using just your pencil and your pencil as your measure tape, that was fun and educational! But I still needed my coffee and it still had to be strong!

The follow-up lesson was about tonal value and a different kind of cross hatching I have ever experienced. Time consuming, but the results phenomenal!

Last Tuesday I had to draw the face using the circle measurements and line drawing exercises previously done. Needless to say I goofed. My lines were a bit crooked! Had to do it again! I also learned that I needed reading glasses to draw all these intricate lines! I bought myself some reading glasses and voilà! I can see again! The face drawing was perfect. (At least I think so!)

Homework for the face drawing is the shading and highlights bit. I will do that tomorrow, as today was a bit hectic and yesterday was just off the scale hectic. As it is school holidays, I try to spend some time with Danté.

We opened a bank account for him yesterday so that we can teach him the value of saving :D :D yeah, big big job laying ahead of us

Gideon decided to spoil me tremendously and got me an IPhone! I wanted an Iphone since it came out and because of the price tag, never thought I would get one in my lifetime. Lo and behold!!! I got one! I am the happiest chappie in the world. It has huge advantages, for instance I do not have to use my glasses to read anything on it. It is SO userfriendly and most of all, it is mine! Love it, love it love it!!!!
